Statue of Kanaklata Barua:
On 10 September 1942, at Gohpur a young girl led a procession of unarmed villagers under Congress flag. She was Kanaklata Barua – a girl from Barangabari village. As soon as Kanaklata unfurled the flag she and her companion Mukunda Kakati were gunned down by the armed Police. The saga of her heroic sacrifice is still remembered with pride.

This time my journey started from Guwahati to Barangabari village (Sonitpur District) before reaching Gohpur town, near about 270Kms N.H.52 from Guwahati, this place is most famous for Shree Shree Maa Kalyani Devaloy it is a religious temple, its existence is from the time of Pre - Ahom (between 9th –12th Century).
Statues of Goddess Durga, God Ganesha, God Kartikey are worshipped here. I was able to see the large congregation of people who came from far places to take blessings from Devi Devta's (Goddess & Gods).
So, after finishing my prayer, I had a little conversation with the Brahman of the temple, I asked him about the place the statues which were there, and i clicked many pictures there, uploading a few of them. Hope you would like it.
